Update to Nextcloud 31
We begin updating the Nextcloud under sciebo from version 30 to 31 next week. Short interruptions (under 15 minutes) are expected; if we can foresee that updates may take longer on some instances, we will inform you separately.
There are only few user-facing changes in this update. The Sharing dialog now separates internal and external shares. There is hope that the logic used to find users can be streamlined and will work better with our quite large address book afterwards.
On the server side, it is now configurable how long the synchronization of address books between instances may take. We have often run into the fixed time limit of 30 seconds and hope that we can perform the synchronization reliably again with more time. This should make sharing across instance boundaries more reliable again, as we often have the problem that users cannot be found.
Furthermore, we hope that editing Office documents over federated shares will work better again. We have conducted many tests and are cautiously optimistic.
Finally, it remains to say that we have now definitively replaced the old help pages with this new documentation, which is easier for us to maintain, easier for users to search, follows modern design principles, and is therefore (more) accessible.
